The Wolverines lost their game on October 2 to the Mount Zion Eagles, 40-13. Walker ran more plays than Mount Zion, but it was not enough to put more points on the board. Walker dropped to 3-4 on the year as the Eagles improved to 5-1.
The passing game, led by sophomore Joseph Vose (#13), struggled with turnovers as Vose only threw 102 yards and two picks. Receiving was led by sophomore Beau Slay (#4) who had 51 yards on five catches. Junior J.T Reichenbach (#81) added 29 yards on three catches. The rushing attack scored all of the Wolverine touchdowns as Vose and freshman back Robert Wood (#7) each had a score. The leading rusher was sophomore Thomas Rath (#29) who had 45 yards on eight carries. The offense struggled for points on Friday and failed to keep pace with the Zion offense.
The Walker defense struggled to contain an Eagles offense that put up 40 points. Junior Connor Coolbroth (#34) lead the team with 11 tackles. Slay (#4) and junior Alec Baker (#88) each had a fumble recovery and freshman Lake Boyer (8) added an interception to help provide the Wolverines with three turnovers.
Walker has a bye week on Oct. 16, and then they hit the road again to play Christian Heritage where they look to bounce back to .500.
