THE MEDIA DAY

Some people say change is bad or change is good. But you only know how change is going to be once you look back and reflect on it. On August 26th, The Walker School in Marietta, Georgia, had its first media day. This media day included the fall sports Football, Cheer, Cross Country, Volleyball, and The Walker School’s great sports medicine staff. Every sport had individual as well as group pictures taken.

Junior Football player Bennett Wright said this was an amazing experience. Wright (11) said that moving from Harrison to Walker, everything from the people to the lunch has been a world-changing experience. Junior Cheerleader Savannah Kraal said it felt like an ounce-in-a-lifetime experience. It made it unique for her because she wasn’t just taking pictures by herself. She said the fact fall sports came together to take pictures. Kraal noted that putting on a football helmet and taking pictures was the most enjoyable part.

Junior Volleyball player Anna Bonds said that she liked it. The only thing she would have changed is she would have instead been inside. Being inside can open up picture options and more fun things to do. Senior Yusuf al-Kadi said that he had a good experience. Coming from North Cobb, he said they didn’t have anything like this for cross country and felt very apprenticed.

Senior Brandon Tarbeart had a unique experience at the Fall Sports Media Day. Tarbeart experienced the media day from both lenses, so to speak. He started off taking a few pictures wearing his football jersey. After being satisfied with the photographs, he turned around and took pictures. Besides Walker’s photographer, Mr.Mackey, various photographers took pictures, including Tarbeart(12) and Casey Arkoette(12). Having students actively take photos is another way The Walker School is unique.

All in all, the media day was a success. We still have two more media days at the Walker school. Some teams may be inside, or maybe everybody will stay outside. There is a lot of excitement for the winter and spring sports for their media day.
