Madelyn Atwill’s Success in Tennis

Madelyn Atwill is a senior on the varsity tennis team and has been playing since Middle school. This year, the varsity girls’ tennis team has been successful, winning more than half their games. Recently, the team played Mt. Paran on Tuesday, 3/19, and won 4-1.

Maddy’s favorite part about being on the team is meeting people she wouldn’t usually meet from other grades.

What inspired her to play tennis was when her parents taught her to play tennis on their street, and she would always go with them to the courts to watch when she was little.

In college, Maddy would like to play club tennis or find a group of friends she can play with at UGA; she doesn’t plan on officially playing for college.

One of her favorite memories throughout her tennis years was when she played tennis at Anjali Kanaru’s house to practice for the tournaments, and her proudest moment was winning the region tournament in 9th and 11th grade.

One tip Maddy has for tennis players is to “try to play people who you know can beat you because they will make you a much better player.”
