There is no actual definition of art. Art can be whatever you want it to be. It is a place to inspire and indulge in a new future. Recently, the arts program at The Walker School went to the High Museum in Atlanta. They were exploring all the great art the museum has to offer. As art students, kids try to create the piece that looks the best, but that is only sometimes the case. Yes, part of art is making your pieces look good, but it’s also about the schemes and values, all while expressing yourself. As a program, we fail to realize we are creating art without physically creating art.
When I say art students have created their best artwork yet, all of them coming together as one, being inspired by other great artists, is helping them make one big piece themselves. We are using each other to bounce ideas off one another and explore what an artistic future could look like. We explored the adventures of 1700-1800’s art and the places and locations from which the art is inspired. We looked at art from the wars in time and how we look at those now. These different art pieces have changed how we view things because of the legendary and iconic status of the pictures.
The definition of art is to express yourself with your creativity in your own way, and The Walker School Art Program is looking to embark on a new future, changing the way art is seen. If we can all collaborate to make art grow, we can continue to inspire the world with our creativity.
