Walker Takes on High Q

On Sunday afternoon, four members of Walker’s Academic Team appeared on WSB-TV’s High Q. The show, which is a trivia game for high school students, is broadcasted throughout the metro-Atlanta area. The students who are members of the team are senior Ashwin Kanuru, and juniors Lauren Fischer, Lauren Martin, and Jason Thomas. The team was quizzed on a wide range of topics from naming compounds to foreign affairs between the United States and Russia. In years past, Walker’s team has advanced very far in the show, making it all the way to the quarter-finals.

Junior Lauren Martin said that preparation for the show was, “definitely different from normal academic team stuff. Most of the questions were “quick fire” like questions that could be figured out faster than say an academic team one which is much longer. The taping went really smoothly. Lloyd, he creates all the questions for the game, ran us through the process of the game. We were miked, did a quick practice round, and then we started the game.”

Although they ended up losing a tight game against Lakeview Academy, the team did an amazing job.
