Multiple high schools and their sports have been cancelled because of the coronavirus. The CDC is recommending gatherings of under 10 people only, and all classes are being cancelled and moved to online. Everyone’s panicking for toilet paper, hand-sanitizer and such, but what no one has really thought about is how this impacts the seniors.
This takes away all spring break plans, concerts, their last days to see their friends, and, most importantly to me, all last chances to play sports. Seniors pictured above like Klaus Rowan, who was set to come back on the 24th of March, may not even get a game. At first, there were starts of #letthekidsplay trying to let the kids play through the virus to finish off their season. As that becomes unrealistic however, what do they plan to do for the seniors that lost their last year to play sports, and make memories?
