2017 Shuler Recap!

This year, our Walker theatre department went to the annual Shuler Hensley Georgia High School Musical Theatre awards for their production of Bells Are Ringing. Our nominations were for Best Orchestra and Show Stopper for “Hello, Hello.” We unfortunately did not win the awards: Johns Creek high school won the orchestra award for their production of Cinderella, and Milton high school won with their show stopper from the musical “9 to 5.” Walker racked up quite a few honorable mentions as well: Senior Greg Lloyd as Leading Actor for his performance as Jeffery Moss, senior Peyton Duncan and sophomore Hayes Zierden for Best Sound Design, and Mrs. Arjona for the Directors Award.

Senior Nick Ladue says he “looks forward to the Shuler Awards every year,” and this year contained “some of the greatest talent [he’s] witnessed among all of the shows.”Sophomore Dylan Alfi and senior Eileen Connell represented our production in the opening and closing numbers for the show. Senior Greg Lloyd was one of our representatives last year, and he remarks that his experience on the Shuler stage was “unforgettable,” and that he’ll “never forget that experience for as long as [he] lives.”
