Wolverine Athletics Look to Bounce Back

The Wolverines volleyball team played their last game of the season on Tuesday, October 24th at Mt. Paran Christian School. The team played their hearts out especially lone senior Alex Rodriguez as they were defeated 0-3 (18-25, 17-25, 18-25) by the number one seeded Eagles in the latest edition of the “Six-Mile Rivalry.” One bright spot to take out of the loss however is that such a young team (10 underclassmen) could go 35-9 and make it to the State Final Four.

On Friday, October 27th, the varsity football team traveled to rival Whitefield Academy to play a game that would determine third place in the region. A sluggish first half by the Wolverines resulted in a 17-0 halftime deficit as the defenses from both teams were playing well. Walker’s only score of the game came early in the second half as junior Nik Talley recovered a fumble and returned it 88 yards for a touchdown. After a hard fought game, Whitefield emerged victorious by a score of 24-7. Now the Wolverines face a win or go home situation as they host the North Cobb Christian Eagles for a shot at the playoffs. The top 24 teams make the cut and the Wolverines sit at 22 and the Eagles at 25.
