Walker alum class of 2019 Willard Scissum is a familiar name around campus. He is a very hard-working student and also excels on the football field. Two years ago, when Willard was a Senior at Walker, he decided to commit to Georgia Tech to play football. He said his experience as a college athlete “has been truly incredible; I know I will never forget the times I had with my teammates.” Willard is an offensive lineman at GT and has been working his hardest to get to where he is. When asked about the adversity he had to overcome to get to where he is now, he said, “I worked so hard to get where I am with the knee surgeries and the countless hours spent behind closed doors to improve my game.”
Willard also talks about how college athletics pushes you to be the best version of yourself. When asked about his favorite part about college football, he talks about the friendships he has made and the bonds that will last forever. He says, “Practicing, working out, sitting in meetings, and living with our teammates, it is easy to form close bonds because there are not many times when you are not around the team.” Willard then speaks on the most challenging part of being a college athlete, and he said, “It is the time management. Your time is the single most important thing that you have, and if you do not know how to spend it well, it will be very hard for you to make it.”
