Walker Alum Breaks NCAA Record

Class of 2021, Walker alum Charlie Condon has been crushing it on the diamond this season. His 2023 season at UGA (which was also record breaking by hitting the most home runs by a SEC freshman at 25 and winning SEC freshman of the year) does not compare to how he has played this year. The versatile player has played all over the outfield, first base, and third base and even made sports-center’s top 10 plays one week. Over the Season he has been hitting home run after home run, on April 27, 2024 playing against Texas A&M Charlie hit his 28th and 29th home run of the season which pushes his career home runs to 54 in 2 seasons. His 54 total home runs set a record for the all time homeruns at UGA. The previous record was held by Gordon Beckham who also had the old record of the most single season home runs at UGA in 2008 with 28. That record was also broken by Charlie on the 27th. Charlie is projected to be the number 1 draft pick in the upcoming MLB draft which would make him the highest baseball draft pick in UGA history.

“It’s amazing,” Condon said on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network. “This is what I’ve worked really hard for. … For it to pay off in a group like this, I just love being able to contribute with such a great group of good guys and all that good stuff. It means a lot. We’re not done yet, but we’re just going to keep on rolling, and hopefully, there’s a couple more coming.” With the end of the regular season coming, Charlie hopes to lead Georgia into Omaha and bring back another Championship.
